NEWS Apologies for the disruption to the website - administrative difficulties; next scheduled updates: ongoing updates until some semblance of order has returned
Welcome to the Witchcraft Bibliography Project Online. The Bibliography is primarily a resource for historians and teachers of the witch persecutions from the late Middle Ages into the eighteenth century. It is an ongoing project which expands as new literature appears and new web tools become available. You can find a brief history of the Project here.
Using the Bibliography
If your interest in early modern European witchcraft is general, you might begin with a decent overview or collection of essays. You will find a list of several currently in print (or just out of print) here: History of witchcraft (surveys and collections)
If you have a more specific interest, you may browse the bibliographies drawn up by subject or region. You can also use the search facility to locate items by author or word in the title. Many of the bibliographies are divided into "primary" and "secondary" texts.
You will find an older set of links pages here. Further links will be advertised on the Witchcraft Bibliography Project Online blog associated with this site. The blog will also advertise significant updates to the site and interesting news about witchcraft studies in general. Further, unsorted, links can also be found on my delicious pages, tagged under "witchcraft". I have also set up a Facebook group with the obvious title "Witchcraft Bibliography Project Online". We'll see if and how it develops over time.
